Partnership Granting Programs

As BC's philanthropic leader, Vancouver Foundation partners with organizations and other funders to collectively support the needs of our communities.

Organizations are invited to apply to any of these programs if you think you meet the funding eligibility guidelines. Please note that each of the initiatives described below has its own application process.

Vancouver Foundation partners in the following funding programs with other organizations, funders and corporations.

Artists in Education

For more than 25 years, the Artists in Education program has supported the arts in schools across the province by providing matching funds for performances, workshops and residencies. AIE has introduced hundreds of thousands of children and youth to traditional and cultural events in a multidisciplinary range of dance, theatre, music, literary, media and visual arts.

Arts Partners in Creative Development (APCD)

This program was launched in 2006 to enable BC arts and cultural organizations to create or commission original works in the performing, visual, media and literary arts. Vancouver Foundation, the Province of BC, City of Vancouver, Canada Council for the Arts, VANOC and 2010 Legacies Now have collectively contributed $6.5 million.

Arts Partners In Organizational Development (Arts POD)

ArtsPOD, a program administered by the Centre for Non-Profit Sustainability, provides grants to arts and heritage not-for-profit organizations in British Columbia to help them achieve long-term organizational sustainability. ArtsPOD funding enables groups to work with an experienced consultant or resource person to enhance organizational effectiveness. ArtsPOD is funded by British Columbia Arts Council, Capital Regional District, City of Vancouver, Columbia Basin Trust, Ministry of Tourism, Sport and the Arts, and Vancouver Foundation.

BC Social Enterprise Fund

The BC Social Enterprise Fund (BC SEF) supports BC-based nonprofits that are generating earned income for social and/or environmental change. The Fund support social enterprises that demonstrate the potential to grow and scale their operations but require additional capital. The Fund makes grants for capital expenditures and operating expenses to support social enterprise growth. In addition to a grant, each short-listed social enterprise candidate receives free business plan coaching from business executives as well as access to their networks and opportunities to leverage ongoing technical assistance.

Emergency Medical Assistant Education Fund

This fund, established by The Emergency Health Services Commission, provides awards to students enrolled in Emergency Medical Assistant (EMA) programs that have been approved by the EMA Licensing Board. In BC there is a severe shortage of paramedics working in rural, northern and remote areas. Awards from this fund will address the shortage by encouraging paramedics to work in these areas.

Enterprising Non-Profits Program (ENP)

ENP provides matching grants to non-profit organizations in BC that are interested in starting or expanding a business enterprise. The program was established in 1997 in response to requests by organizations for support in the development of revenue-generating enterprises as a way of stabilizing and diversifying their funding base and enhancing their programs or services. ENP is funded by United Way of the Lower Mainland, Vancity Community Foundation, Coast Capital Savings and Vancouver Foundation.

Environmental Partners In Organizational Development (EnviroPOD)

EnviroPOD, a program administered by the Centre for Non-Profit Sustainability, helps build the organizational capacity of environmental not-for-profit organizations so that they are better able to sustain themselves and meet their mission over the long term. Grants from this program enable organizations to work with an experienced consultant or resource person on processes that build capacity and enhance organizational effectiveness. EnviroPOD is funded by Bullitt Foundation, Columbia Basin Trust, Endswell Foundation, Mountain Equipment Co-op, Vancity Credit Union and Vancouver Foundation.

Neighbourhood Small Grants

Strong, vibrant communities are an essential part of our province’s social and economic fabric. When residents become active in their neighbourhoods, communities are strengthened from the ground up. This is the reason Vancouver Foundation’s Neighbourhood Small Grants Program was created. Started in 1999, the program supports resident-led grassroots actions that enhance the local neighbourhood. Funds are administered by various neighbourhood houses and community-based organizations across Metro Vancouver.

Social Services Partners In Organizational Development (Social ServicesPOD)

Social ServicesPOD, a program administered by the Centre for Non-Profit Sustainability, provides grants to health and social service not-for-profit organizations in British Columbia to help them adapt to change, improve their organization, and respond to diversity. Social ServicesPOD funding enables groups to work with an experienced consultant or resource person to enhance organizational effectiveness. Social ServicesPOD is funded by City of Vancouver (Social Planning Department), Columbia Basin Trust, Ministry of Child and Family Development, United Way of the Lower Mainland, and Vancouver Foundation.
